Recomendactions for the altitude
Avoid eating heavy meals the day before traveling to Cusco.
Make sure to drink between 6–8 glasses of water in the days prior to your trip and during your stay in Cusco.
Once you arrive at your hotel, take a few minutes to rest before heading out to explore the city.
Drink coca tea. Most hotels offer it for free at the front desk. Another option is to buy lemon candies.
When you go out to explore the city, try not to overexert yourself by climbing stairs or walking too fast. The best thing to do is to enjoy every corner of Cusco calmly and at your own pace.
From the moment you land in the city of Cusco, you will know for sure you are in a very special place. Located in the Central area of the Andes, the capital of the Inca Empire will welcome you among green fields, amazing mountains, stone walls, brick houses and smiling faces ready to show you everything that this magical place has to offer.
Among so many novelties, it is normal to suddenly feel your heart beating faster and a more intense breathing. Yes, it can be due to the thrill of being standing in the same soil where the Incas built this great Empire, but it can also be due to the altitude.
